Why should you turn to a Gastroenterologist?

If you are dealing with persistent bowel changes, unexplained abdominal pain, or you have a family history of colon cancer, then turning to us can give you the answers and care you need. Even if you aren’t dealing with issues, you can and should turn to us for colon cancer screenings by the time you turn 50 years old.

When should I see a doctor about my acid reflux?

Acid reflux is a common issue; however, if you are experiencing severe or persistent bouts of acid reflux two or more times a day then it’s time to turn to a gastroenterologist who can determine the root cause of your symptoms and also help you manage them. After all, chronic acid reflux could be a sign of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can increase your risk for cancer if left untreated.

How can I protect against colon cancer?

Whether you have a family history of colon cancer or not, every individual should come in for routine colon cancer screenings, or a colonoscopy, by the time they turn 50. Men and women at an increased risk for colorectal cancer should talk to our gastroenterologist about getting screened by age 45. Of course, if you notice blood in the stool, persistent stool changes, unexpected weight loss, and abdominal pain you should turn to us right away for an evaluation.
